The Government of Cantabria approved a new decree regulating campsites and service areas for motorhomes. The regulation simplifies the creation of new sites but maintains the possibility of overnight stays in any public space. Overnight stays are not considered camping unless awnings, tables, chairs are set up or waste is discharged. This has drawn complaints from residents and campsite owners, especially in summer, but authorities highlight the economic benefits of this tourism segment.
