The EU has adopted Directive 2025/2205, allowing B-license holders to drive motorhomes up to 4,250 kg with additional code 96.02. However, member states have yet to transpose the directive into national law, with actual implementation expected no earlier than late 2029. The Netherlands currently has a limited exemption for motorhomes up to 4,250 kg, but only for non-petrol/diesel vehicles, with at least two years of B-license experience and without a trailer. Exceeding 3,500 kg also results in higher tolls, different speed limits, and increased ferry fares.
