Measures to develop the motorhome market
China's State Council has transmitted a document titled "Measures to Stimulate Motorhome Consumption" to ten government departments, including the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The document provides for incorporating motorhome parking needs into unified territorial planning, creating campsites in tourist areas and along scenic routes, and allocating motorhome spaces at parking lots and roadside service areas with water, electricity and waste disposal services.
The document also promotes the production of new energy motorhomes, the development of specialised routes, and tightens safety standards and renter protection. According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in 2025 sales of self-propelled motorhomes exceeded 20,000 units for the first time, while sales of new energy motorhomes for long-distance travel grew by 229% year on year. Sales of campers for short trips rose by 85.61% compared with the previous year.
