Peer-to-peer rental of camper vans, converted vans and motorhomes is expanding in France. The platform Roadvan, launched in October 2026, connects travellers with vehicle owners. According to the Salon des Véhicules de Loisirs, more than 26,000 new motorhomes were registered in France in 2024. Most camper vans and motorhomes have a gross vehicle weight of up to 3.5 tonnes and can be driven with a category B licence; heavier models require a C1 or C licence. Platforms usually offer insurance for the rental period, with an excess that varies by plan.
