Weihang files new camper model: dual-use for business and travel, can it crack the high-end RV market?

In the 410th batch of MIIT announcements, Chengli Xinfu Xiangyang Automobile Co., Ltd. filed the Chengli Xinfu CXF5150XSYC camping vehicle. Based on a FAW heavy truck chassis, it measures 8.4 meters, has a gross mass of 15 tons, can tow 12 tons, and is powered by a 258 kW engine. It includes sleeping, kitchen, and sanitary facilities. Domestic camping vehicle sales grew 85.61% in 2025, but new energy models and competition pose challenges.

Shuntai Automobile has filed for registration of its new motorhome model BTQ5045XLJBJV9 in the 410th batch of announcements by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The vehicle is based on a Beiqi Foton chassis and seats six. Dimensions: length 5950 mm, width 2200 or 2160 mm, height 2860 mm. Gross weight is 3800 kg, curb weight 3340 kg, top speed 120 km/h. It is powered by a Yunnei YN25AL151 engine, equipped with ABS, and offers optional roof solar panel and ETC device. The model targets family travel and meets the requirements for a C-class driver's license.

Weihai Zihe Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. has submitted its Falcon ZHP5035XLJ motorhome for approval in the MIIT's 410th batch. Based on a Jiangxi Isuzu chassis, the vehicle stands 2110mm tall, allowing access to underground garages, and is powered by a 152kW engine with an optional towing capacity of up to 2600kg.

Hainan Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Co. has filed the Farizon-branded battery-electric motorhome (model HGH5047XLJBEVGT1) with China's MIIT in the 410th batch of new vehicle announcements. The vehicle is offered in two lengths (5490 mm and 5820 mm) and six roof heights, powered by a CATL LFP battery and an Inboer drive motor with 170 kW peak output, with a top speed of 135 km/h or 100 km/h (optional limiter). It comes standard with living equipment such as seats, beds, cooking and sanitary facilities. The filing marks Geely Farizon's entry into the RV segment; registrations of new-energy RVs in China grew 261.2% in 2025 year-on-year.

In the MIIT's 410th batch of announcements, Luoyang Lingyu Langchen filed the Langchen LLC5115XLJA1 motorhome. It features a Daimler diesel engine meeting China VI emission standards, dimensions of 5995×2530×3550mm, wheelbase 3845mm, approach angle 41 degrees, departure angle 26 degrees, gross weight 10600kg, and seating for 6. The vehicle uses an imported chassis and off-road tires, targeting the high-end off-road RV segment. In Q1 2026, self-propelled RV sales grew 18.2% year-on-year, with annual demand projected at 140,000 units, but brand recognition and after-sales network remain weaknesses.

A new trend in China involves converting BYD T5 electric trucks into campers. The 'Ye Ba Ye Ba' project installs a removable living module in the truck's cargo area, turning it into a mobile home. Companies like Chengli offer modifications with three floors, solar panels, and a washing machine.
