At the Caravan Salon 2026 in Düsseldorf, Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge, together with startup Stuff Bubble, presented inflatable modules for the VW California Beach: a kitchen and a sleeping system. The kitchen measures 120 x 44 x 47.5 cm, weighs less than 10 kg, and features a sink and closed-loop water tanks. The sleeping system, 200 x 134 cm, can be used as a double (12 kg) or single (6 kg) bed.
The modules require no permanent installation, fold up, and can be removed in minutes, allowing the vehicle to be used as a six-seater in everyday life. The total system weighs under 22 kg. Series production and pricing have not yet been announced.
At the same show, Volkswagen also presented the electric ID. California Cruise based on the ID. Buzz. The electric California lineup will be expanded by 2028.
