According to an ADAC survey, 25% of Germans aged 16 and over (about 17 million) belong to the camping target group, up 4 percentage points from 2023. Among 16–39-year-olds, the share rose from 35% to 39%. About half of camping trips are made in motorhomes, camper vans, or mini-campers; 18% book mobile homes, 17% use tents, and 16% travel with caravans. Germany remains the most popular destination (54%), followed by Europe (41%). The average budget is 910 euros per adult and 410 euros per child per week.

In the night to Thursday, a motorhome caught fire in Weeze, Germany. Police have launched an arson investigation. This is the second fire on the same parking lot on Kervenheimer Strasse within 24 hours. On Wednesday morning, a BMW burned out there, and police already suspected arson.

At the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf (August 28 – September 6, 2026), German company Eifelland will present the electric Nissan Interstar-e van designed for surfers and water sports enthusiasts. The 6.31-meter model differs from standard vans by lacking a traditional dinette and fixed bathroom, instead featuring modular seats on rails, a spacious kitchen on the left, a permanent bed above a large storage area, and a dry toilet. Options include up to five seats, a pop-up roof (from 2027), and a shower. Fresh water capacity is 20 liters; no water heater is installed.

From August 28 to September 6, the 65th Caravan Salon takes place in Düsseldorf, with 830 exhibitors presenting caravans, motorhomes, campervans, and accessories. Highlights include compact models for budget-conscious buyers and luxurious all-wheel-drive motorhomes with enhanced self-sufficiency. In 2023, the show attracted 269,000 visitors from 80 countries; for 2025, organizers expect 249 new products.

The ADAC's PiNCAMP Most Wanted 2026 ranking has named Knaus Campingpark in Leipzig as Saxony's top campsite, featuring an art studio, tattoo parlor and accessible bathroom. LuxOase at the Wallroda reservoir came second, offering a conference box with Wi-Fi and a wellness pool. Campingparadies Talsperre Pöhl in the Vogtland region placed third, with regional products and a bread roll delivery service. The ranking is based on page views on PiNCAMP.de from January 1 to July 31.

The motorhome parking area on Van-den-Berg-Straße in Kleve, right next to the station, is popular with tourists, especially from the Netherlands. They appreciate the central location and the chance to explore the city by bike. However, visitors say not everything on the site runs smoothly.
