Carstay, a sharing service for camper vans and overnight spots, announced on March 27 that bookings for the 2026 Golden Week period (April 25 – May 6) are expected to reach an all-time high. As of March 27, approximately 120 bookings worth 7 million yen were recorded, a 1.5-fold increase year-on-year. The company forecasts that by the end of the period, bookings will total 690, with a combined value of 22 million yen.
The surge in demand is attributed to rising hotel prices in Japan, the weakening yen, and higher airfare costs.
