Honda Freed Crosstar: a mobile cinema
Honda Access, Honda's original accessories division, has unveiled a concept to turn the compact minivan Freed Crosstar (5-seat version) into a private cinema for overnight stays. The project uses standard accessories: a roof shelf for a roll-up projection screen, Privacy Shade curtains for darkening, and a two-tier luggage system. According to a Honda Access survey of 1,000 drivers aged 20–69 conducted in September 2025, about 28% had experience sleeping in a car, with 21% doing so more than 10 times.
JP STAR Happy1 City Turbo: compact camper
JP STAR (brand of Moon Star Export) presented the Happy1 City Turbo camper prototype at the Tokyo Outdoor Show 2026 in Makuhari Messe (June 26–28). Based on the Daihatsu Atrai with a turbo engine, it measures about 3.9 m in length and sleeps four, including an upper bunk. An electric folding roof allows entry into parking lots with a 2.1 m height limit. Sales start date and specifications have not been announced.
