A berth is a designated sleeping space in a motorhome or caravan. Berths may be fixed (always set up as a bed) or convertible (a dinette or lounge that folds into a sleeping area). The number of berths is a key motorhome specification.
A "4-berth" motorhome sleeps four people. Fixed berths are more convenient; convertible berths save space during the day. Many motorhomes combine a fixed rear double bed with convertible front berths for the best of both.
