José Cruz, founder of Caravanas Cruz in Elche, has been awarded the Onda Cero Tourism Prize 2026, coinciding with the radio station's 25th anniversary. In an interview on the programme Más de uno Elche-Comarcas del Vinalopó, Cruz said caravanning has evolved from a minority activity into a key tourism driver for the province of Alicante over five decades. He noted that the sector now attracts high-income European visitors year-round and boosts local commerce.
