Camper van manufacturer Nihon Tokushu Body, based in Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture, has developed a vehicle that can be used both for leisure and for transporting supplies to disaster areas. The vehicle can drive on rough roads and has solar panels to generate electricity. Its living module is made of aluminium, which reduces weight while maintaining strength. The company plans to rent the vehicle to municipalities that find it difficult to buy and store expensive equipment. The Nikkei article is available only to paying subscribers.
