China's 2025 RV market shifts focus to quality and new energy vehicles

In Bijie, Guizhou province, the Bailidujuan motorhome campsite has accommodated 728 motorhomes and over 1,300 tourists. In 2025, a meeting with 21 camper representatives addressed 28 issues, including electricity, water, and sewage. The government invested 5 million yuan in an underground sewage network, and the operating company invested 12 million yuan in infrastructure upgrades. The site now has 728 charging stations, 496 water taps, 128 wash stations, 4 washing machines, 10 shower rooms, and over 1,000 parcel lockers. In 2025, 21 mobile shops opened, generating nearly 10 million yuan in internal transactions.

Chinese smart motorhome startup Squirrel Power, founded in 2023, has raised over 200 million yuan in Series A funding. Investors include Oriza Hua, Oriza Rivertown, GSR United Capital and ThunderSoft. The funds will be used for certification and capacity expansion of range-extender motorhomes, with mass production and deliveries planned for 2027. At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, the company unveiled its first product, the Evotrex-PG5, priced from $120,000; the $159,990 higher-end version accounted for about 90% of pre-orders, with most customers being North American outdoor enthusiasts aged 30–45.

Lidu has unveiled the production version of its retro caravan Cube 450, following the Cube 440 concept from 2024. The model features an all-metal body with rounded lines and a two-tone paint job. Inside, there is a modular lounge, a compact kitchen block, and a wet bath. The price is around 170,000 yuan (about $25,000 or €23,000).

Chinese manufacturer Lidu RV has unveiled the Cube 450, the production version of the Cube 440 concept that debuted in Europe in 2024. The trailer retains the retro exterior with rounded edges and two-tone paint but features a body made of sheet metal (aluminum and steel) and a darker interior. Starting price is around 170,000 Chinese Yuan (roughly $25,000 at exchange rates at the time of publishing).

China's General Administration of Sport has included the "Super League Champion City" route in Taizhou, Jiangsu, in its 2026 Spring Festival outdoor sports quality routes. The approximately 180 km route centres on the Mengzhilian motorhome campsite in Jiangyan District, which covers 1620 mu and can accommodate up to 100 motorhomes. Motorhome rental at the campsite costs 400–800 yuan per night, with a three-day budget for a family of three estimated at 2000–3500 yuan.

The 2026 Guangdong International Tourism Industry Expo closed in Guangzhou on September 13, where Huatie Fengtu presented several motorhome models. The company, headquartered in Hangzhou, operates over 800 motorhomes and 11 direct rental outlets, and since early 2026 has run a Guangzhou service center with two locations. At the expo it offered rates from 399 yuan per day on weekdays and 5-day packages for holidays; users with a Zhima credit score of 700 or above can have their deposit waived.
