A new factory fifth-wheel hitch option for the Chevrolet Silverado HD has been announced by GMSV, developed by Walkinshaw (formerly Holden Special Vehicles). The package boosts towing capacity to 8000 kg (17,637 lb) provided the vehicle is registered as NB2 class and the driver holds a truck license.
The hitch is available with a 50-mm kingpin (18,000 AUD) or a 3.0-inch Gooseball (20,000 AUD). Installation is performed by Walkinshaw Automotive during right-hand-drive conversion and includes a factory pneumatic brake system, reinforced frame, and additional controls. The option is available for vehicles built from the third quarter of 2026 and is not compatible with earlier models.
