A severe storm with gusty winds hit the campsite in Duchonka (according to other reports, the recreational area Dihonka in the Topoľčany district) on Monday evening. A tree fell on a parked caravan, damaging part of it. Firefighters and rescuers arrived, checked for possible people inside, freed the trapped vehicle, and secured the area.
The wind also broke branches and trees in the vicinity, and heavy rain washed out paths and access roads. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute had warned of thunderstorms with heavy rain and wind gusts up to 85 km/h.
