European Union eases rules for Category B driving licenses

The European Union is changing rules to allow Category B license holders to drive heavier vehicles. The new directive permits driving alternatively powered vehicles up to 4.25 tonnes instead of 3.5 tonnes and provides for obtaining additional authorization to drive heavy motorhomes after specific training. EU member states have four years to transpose these rules into national law.

Slovakia Attracts Caravan Tourists

Slovakia is becoming a popular destination for caravan tourists, boosting regional tourism development. The 98th F.I.C.C. Rally will be held in Nitra in 2025, with an expected 1000–1500 caravans. This tourism segment grew by 10% after the pandemic, mainly driven by Czech and Polish tourists. The country plans to create 50–100 stellplatz (short-term caravan parking areas) to generate additional income for rural areas.
