On Wednesday, 30 September, a caravan came to rest across the left and middle lanes of the A8 motorway towards Stuttgart between the Leipheim junction (66) and the Ulm/Elchingen interchange, blocking all regular lanes. Traffic is being routed via the hard shoulder. Police have not yet stated the cause. According to the BayernInfo traffic portal, a traffic jam about seven kilometres long has formed, with delays of up to 70 minutes. Clean-up work is in its final stages and the road is expected to reopen soon.
