Caravan crash on A6: full closure and 9-km traffic jam

A 1989 Bischofberger Family Hochdach motorhome built on a Volkswagen Caddy chassis is listed for sale on Bring a Trailer. It features a 1.9-liter AAZ turbodiesel engine producing 75 hp and a five-speed manual transmission. The motorhome is approximately 15.5 feet long and weighs around 2,860 pounds. Only about 40 such motorhomes were built, making it rare. When new, it had a starting price of around 10,000 pounds.

Megamobil has unveiled the Lounge 700 Max camper van based on the Mercedes Sprinter, measuring 6.97 m long and 2.04 m wide. The rear features a U-shaped lounge with an electrically lowering bed measuring 1.98 x 1.70 m. The rear-wheel-drive version has a gross vehicle weight of 3,880 kg, while the all-wheel-drive version is rated at 4,100 kg. The base price is 115,809 euros.

Mooveo has introduced the All-in-One Full Alko trim for its fully integrated motorhomes. The INT-78 QBF Alko model, built on an Alko chassis, features a 300 Ah lithium battery, two 200 W solar panels and a 2000 W inverter. Pricing starts at €110,362; options such as a 4G router (€1,200) and awning with bike rack (€1,500) cost extra.

Westfalia has marked the production of its 600,000th motorhome at its Wiedenbrück plant. The milestone vehicle, a Club Joker Urban, was handed over to Belgian dealer Vanomobil. The company noted that the event does not overshadow ongoing difficult times and further challenges.

A week after production started for the facelifted Multivan and California, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and tuner ABT Sportsline unveiled an exclusive aerodynamic package and 20-inch wheels. The body kit includes a front splitter, gloss black side skirts and a rear diffuser, which serve only a visual purpose. An optional 30 mm lowering kit is available for the Multivan. The interior remains unchanged: up to 8 seats in the Multivan and full camper equipment in the California. Orders for the special models will open in October 2026 through the VW dealer network.

The camping portal camping.info analysed more than 23,000 campsites in 44 countries and compiled a ranking of the 100 most visited from January to September 2026. Gitzenweiler Hof placed 32nd, making it the tenth best in Germany and third best in Bavaria. In total, 47 German campsites made the top 100, followed by 23 from Austria and 18 from Italy. Falkensteiner Camping Grubhof in Salzburg took first place, Camping Vidor Family & Wellness Resort in Italy second, and Camp MondSeeLand in Austria third.
