A caravan separated from its towing car on the A93 motorway near Mainburg on Sunday evening. The 67-year-old driver from the Kelheim district was travelling towards Regensburg when the caravan detached shortly after the Mainburg junction. The caravan first hit the right crash barrier, then struck the left barrier before coming to a stop. No other road users were endangered. The cause has not been established; driver error and a technical defect are both being examined. Damage is estimated at around 10,000 euros.
