Even when all devices in a motorhome are switched off in the evening, the auxiliary battery can lose a significant amount of charge overnight. This is often caused by consumers that continue to operate in the background, such as control units, refrigerators, alarm systems, routers, and charging electronics. While a single device may draw little power, the combined consumption can add up over time, especially during longer stationary periods. Campers are advised to check battery levels before and after standing time and to measure parasitic drain if unexpected losses occur.

The ADAC's PiNCAMP portal has listed the 100 most popular campsites in Europe, including three in East Bavaria. One of them is Campingpark Nabburg in the Schwandorf district. Nearly 40 of the listed sites are in Germany.

According to the ADAC PiNCAMP portal, Schleswig-Holstein ranks first in popularity among German campers, ahead of Bavaria. Ten campsites from the state made it into the top 100 in Europe, with three in the top ten. The Wulfener Hals park on Fehmarn leads the ranking. In 2025, Schleswig-Holstein recorded about 5.5 million overnight stays at campsites, up 2% year-on-year.

The Strandbad campsite in Breitungen has made it into the top ten of the most popular places for campers to stay overnight in Thuringia for the first time, according to a user analysis by Pincamp, the camping portal of the ADAC automobile club. The site, located directly on the Werra and the Werratal cycle path, is between the river and a gravel pit. A site at the 'Thuringian Sea' takes the top spot. The Meyersgrund nature campsite near Ilmenau holds fourth place.

Drivers of large motorhomes should check a specific entry in their driving license before departure. The decisive factor is not the vehicle type but a specific value in the vehicle documents. Overlooking this can result in fines or loss of driving privileges. It is also important to distinguish between the document's expiry date and the validity of a specific license category.
