On Sunday at around 1 p.m., an accident occurred on the Brenner motorway (A22) near Klausen: a car lost its caravan, which detached from the coupling for as-yet-unknown reasons.
According to Südtirol News, no one was injured, the caravan stopped on its own on the hard shoulder, and the traffic jam heading north between Bolzano Nord and Klausen was eight kilometres long. According to Unsertirol24, the trailer remained lying on the left lane, one person suffered minor injuries, traffic was temporarily blocked, delays reached 75 minutes, and rescue work ended by 2:45 p.m.
According to Tiroler Tageszeitung, the trailer and the car were damaged and stopped on both lanes, blocking the motorway northbound and causing a long queue. According to RaiNews, the driver lost control of the car and crashed into the barrier; the people in the car were not injured but were taken to hospital for examination.
Firefighters, rescue services and road maintenance crews were on site.
