Police in Verona arrested a 36-year-old man suspected of stealing two bicycles from a camper parked in a lot on Via Gian Attilio Dalla Bona. A report of suspicious activity came in around noon, after which a witness followed the suspect and kept police updated until officers arrived.
The suspect was detained with one of the stolen bicycles and an angle grinder used to cut the chain. The bicycles, valued at about 5,000 euros, were returned to their owners, two Belgian tourists. The arrested man, who has prior convictions, was taken into custody. The court confirmed the arrest and ordered pretrial detention.
