Simon John Turner, 49, from Reading, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for fraud totalling more than £190,000. In 2018–2019, while living in a caravan at a Weymouth caravan park, he befriended a man in his 60s and persuaded him to pay £53,046 for two caravans that were never purchased, and later a further £61,025 for a fake mortgage investment. In another case, Turner took £76,239 from two other victims for a non-existent caravan, providing forged invoices.
Turner pleaded guilty to three counts of fraud. The sentence was handed down at Reading Crown Court on 22 April 2026. According to some sources, he failed to appear for sentencing and was arrested in Hampshire. The fraud also involved offences in Swindon and Reading.
