In Küçükçekmece, Istanbul, a family of four was injured on April 28 when a gas leak caused an explosion in their parked caravan. The fire started in the morning while attempting to light the stove. The mother suffered burns to 70% of her body, the father to about 40%, and their two children (ages 7 and 9) sustained various burns. They were taken to Başakşehir Hospital; the mother spent 16 days in intensive care. The incident was attributed to a gas leak, lack of ventilation openings, and absence of gas detectors.
