On the night of July 5, 2026, a fire in Isola Verde (Chioggia, Venice) destroyed three campers. According to some sources, the blaze started on private property on Via Nazioni Unite; others report it occurred at an illegal campsite. The fire began in one vehicle, possibly due to a technical fault, and spread to adjacent ones. A motorcycle was also destroyed; some sources mention a small house and a woodshed were damaged.
Two explosions were heard minutes apart. Eighteen firefighters from Chioggia, Cavarzere, and Mestre worked until 4:00 AM to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported, but the vehicles, belonging to three families with children, were completely burned. Arson is not suspected. The cause is being investigated.
