Since March 2026, three RV fires have been reported: in Amarillo (Texas), Irapuato (Mexico) and North Summit (Utah). The incidents led to evacuations, highway closure and damage to nearby properties.
Amarillo, Texas (March 3, 2026)
An RV caught fire in Amarillo, Texas. The call came in at 4:15 a.m., and the fire was contained by 4:32 a.m. All occupants were evacuated and taken to a hospital for observation. The cause is under investigation.
Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico (April 18–19, 2026)
In the Los Arcos neighborhood of Irapuato (also known as Rincón de los Arcos), a grass fire spread to a parked RV. Flames reached a gas tank inside the camper, causing a flash. The RV was completely destroyed; two homes and three cars were damaged. No injuries were reported. A column of smoke was visible for kilometers. Firefighters and civil protection units extinguished the blaze.
North Summit, Utah, USA (April 24, 2026)
On Interstate I-84 near Echo Junction, an RV caught fire. The blaze spread to less than an acre of pasture. North Summit firefighters contained it with no injuries. The highway was closed at dawn. This is the 12th human‑caused wildfire in Summit County in 2026.
