On Sunday, June 21, a Dash water bomber made three retardant drops over cliffs above the A75 near Pégairolles-de-l’Escalette (Lodévois). The operation followed a camper van fire on the uphill lane of the A75, which spread to vegetation near the Pas-de-l’Escalette tunnel. Four days later, the fire reignited, prompting Sdis 34 firefighters to deploy heavy resources, including helicopter-lifted crews due to inaccessible terrain. Work continued until 2 a.m.; highway traffic was unaffected.
