Installing a carport for a motorhome requires accounting for the actual clearance height under the structure, not just the vehicle's dimensions. According to UNI VDL, 23,925 new motorhomes and camper vans were registered in France in 2025. The clear height under the lowest element, such as a beam or gutter, must be compared with the highest point of the motorhome including air conditioning, a retracted antenna or a roof box. Abrisud states a maximum height of 3.20 metres for its tallest carport. Width is equally important: mirrors must pass between posts, and the habitation door and storage lockers must be able to open.
