About 50 caravans of traveling people have illegally occupied the parking lot of the cable car service area along the A40 motorway in Haute-Savoie. Access to the area has been closed since the illegal installation on Monday, May 4, which involved numerous damages. Eviction proceedings were launched the next day, and the order to leave was served on Wednesday. Voluntary departure is expected from Sunday, May 17; an appeal by the occupants is possible. Police intervention may occur if resources allow. The cable car service continues as the parking lot from Pas-de-l’Échelle remains accessible.
