Firefighters tackle blaze at caravan park

Several caravans and motorhomes parked overnight at the River Park pay-and-display car park in Winchester on March 23. The car park is operated by the city council, and similar incidents have occurred previously at other car parks in the city.

The caravanning market is projected to reach $70.7 billion by 2030 with a CAGR of 16.8%. Key growth drivers include demand for eco-friendly travel, remote work, and EV-compatible caravans. In November 2024, Australian manufacturer JB Caravans acquired New Age Caravans to strengthen its market position.

The Vanaconda Customs workshop has unveiled a custom camper van project based on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. Autonomous systems include up to 600W solar panels, a power station, and water tanks for off-grid living. The interior layout features a lounge, a kitchen with an oven, and a separate shower room, with the rear section converting from a sofa to a full-size bed.

Journalists conducted a three-day test drive of the off-road caravan Decamp X3 in the UK in February. The 1300 kg caravan was towed by a Jeep Wrangler with a 2.0-liter petrol engine. The base price of the Decamp X3 is around €41,500, while the tested version with a winter package exceeded €60,000.

North Yorkshire Council will vote on 27 March to make permanent the trial bans on overnight stays for motorhomes and campervans at Scarborough's North Bay and near Sandsend. This could result in fines of around £70 and shift demand to paid campsites, caravan parks, and hotels, potentially increasing their occupancy and revenue stability.

Around a dozen caravans have occupied the car park at Green Lane Park in Solihull, near two schools. The group arrived on March 19, and a local councillor has initiated eviction proceedings, citing residents' concerns and the need to follow legal procedures.
