A group of travelers rented a field from farmer Max Mangold in Wangen, claiming they wanted to launch hot air balloons, and paid 1,000 francs as a down payment of 10,000 francs. After the contract was signed, about 50 motorhomes moved onto the field. The farmer decided to tolerate the group for now, though he admitted he was surprised and uncomfortable. Local authorities switched off emergency generators due to fire risk, and neighbors expressed dissatisfaction with the deception.
