Several road accidents involving camper vans have been reported in the Netherlands over the past days.
Crash on A7 (Afsluitdijk) – 21 May 2026
On the A7 (Afsluitdijk) towards Friesland, a car with a trailer collided with a camper van. The camper overturned. Two people were injured, one of them was taken to hospital by helicopter. The motorway was fully closed, traffic was diverted via Flevoland.
Crash on A7 between Middenmeer and Wieringerwerf – 8 July 2026
On Wednesday afternoon on the A7 between Middenmeer and Wieringerwerf, a camper van and a passenger car collided. The car overturned and ended up on its roof. Firefighters extracted the victims; their condition is unknown. Traffic towards Wieringerwerf was closed.
Crash on A27 near Lexmond – 18–19 June 2026
On the A27 towards Gorinchem, near Lexmond, a camper van overturned. The accident occurred around 10:30, and a truck was also on the hard shoulder. Traffic was closed, belongings from the camper were scattered on the road. According to RTV Utrecht, the crash happened around 10:00, all lanes were closed, and a detour via the A2 was set up. A traffic jam formed towards Utrecht, with delays of up to 20 minutes.
Crash in Nunspeet – 18 June 2026
On the morning of 18 June around 9:15 on the Elburgerweg in Nunspeet, a passenger car and a camper van collided. One person was injured and examined in an ambulance. The car sustained serious damage: a broken window and deployed airbags. Earlier reports of an injured cyclist with a cargo bike were not confirmed.
