At Germany's longest flea market in Elisabethfehn (Cloppenburg district), unknown perpetrators stole around 50,000 euros in revenue from stall rentals and catering. Organizer Klaas Maier left the money in cassettes unattended for ten minutes after the market closed. The empty cassettes were later found at a parking lot between Oldenburg and Bremen.
The revenue was not insured; 11,000 euros of it were planned as donations to local clubs. The organizer faces unpaid bills and taxes; a bank promised a loan, and friends launched a fundraising campaign. Police are testing a glove found in the camper for DNA.
