Several RV and trailer fires have occurred in recent weeks in South Surrey, Nanaimo, Abbotsford, Aldergrove, and Utah. One person was injured in Abbotsford; other incidents had no casualties. Causes are under investigation.
RV and Trailer Park Fires
South Surrey, Canada (April 22, 2026): A fire destroyed a 12-metre fifth-wheel trailer at the Parklander Motor and Trailer Court. Four fire trucks and 14 firefighters responded; no injuries were reported. Two people were displaced.
Nanaimo, Canada (April 20, 2026): A Class C motorhome was completely destroyed in the parking lot of Woodgrove Centre. The fire is believed to have started near the refrigerator. The owner was inside the store and unharmed. Fire crews arrived around 12:30 p.m. and quickly contained the blaze.
Abbotsford, Canada (March 2, 2026): An RV explosion and fire left 68-year-old Sylvia Gillis with severe burns. She was airlifted to hospital. A GoFundMe campaign was launched to support her and her dog.
Aldergrove, Canada (March 4, 2026): A trailer fire at an RV park caused no injuries. A neighbour helped move a vehicle away from the burning trailer before firefighters arrived. The cause is under investigation.
Utah, USA (April 22, 2026): A motorhome fire closed all westbound lanes of Interstate 84 in Weber County. The incident occurred around 6 a.m. at milepost 119. No injuries were reported; the cause is unknown.
