In the village of East Allington (South Hams, Devon), a caravan caught fire on May 15 at around 17:00. The flames spread to two boats, which were completely destroyed.
Firefighters from Salcombe began tackling the blaze before a crew from Dartmouth arrived, with Kingsbridge station also joining. According to one source, it was the second call of the day for Dartmouth station, which earlier dealt with a house fire where the ground floor was filled with smoke. Another source says the second call followed a false alarm at a residential property.
