Motorhomes, especially those based on Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Jumper, attract thieves due to easy break-ins, high resale value and the presence of valuables. The rear door and compartments are easily opened, and plexiglass windows break with a hammer blow. Last year, a network suspected of stealing 151 vehicles was dismantled in Centre-Val de Loire, and more than ten motorhomes were burgled in one night at the Montélimar rest area. Standard alarms only cover the front part, so owners are advised to install additional systems, such as Thitronik for 500 euros, which detects intrusion and sends a notification to a smartphone.
