On the night of July 31 to August 1, 2026, a fire broke out in a caravan parked in its owner's yard on Avenue de Bischwiller in Vire-Normandie (Calvados). The presence of gas bottles made extinguishing dangerous. Thirteen firefighters from the Vire rescue center took part in the operation.
Earlier, on the evening of Sunday, July 26, a caravan was completely destroyed by fire in Guînes. Firefighters from Ardres and Calais arrived around 7:15 PM on Rue Pont-à-Vache. By the time they arrived, the caravan was fully engulfed in flames; two gas bottles inside exploded before the rescuers arrived, worsening the fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, preventing spread to neighboring housing. According to preliminary information, three people nearby were intoxicated. No injuries, only material damage.
