Motorhome burns on A45: driver escapes in time

At the 2026 Dusseldorf Caravan Salon, Dethleffs unveiled the c.core concept motorhome based on a Volkswagen Crafter chassis. The body uses a new lightweight material called Necto, reducing weight by 25–45 kg compared to aluminum. Kerkamm has unveiled Europe's first camper truck based on the Ford Ranger Super Duty, featuring an extra axle that raises the gross vehicle weight to 5,900 kg. On Saturday, September 5, a man was seriously injured at the campsite on the Ruhr in Drüpplingsen after getting under a caravan. According to police, several people were pushing a detached caravan when the man got trapped underneath, but was likely not run over. The emergency call was received at 18:30 by the fire control center in Unna. The man was pinned under the caravan. Rescuers freed him and took him to a hospital in Unna by ambulance; the rescue helicopter, which had been dispatched, flew back without a patient. Police treat the incident as an accident, with no evidence of intent.

German startup Stuff Bubble, founded in spring 2025, has developed inflatable furniture for camper vans that can turn a standard van into a camper in three minutes. Volkswagen has chosen the furniture for its California Beach at the Caravan show in Düsseldorf, running until September 6. The kitchen with inflatable supports costs between €1,250 and €1,800, the bed €800, and the awning €349. The company also plans to release an inflatable pop-up roof.

Burstner has presented the first production unit of its 2027 Signature SMT 7.5 motorhome at the Caravan Salon in Dusseldorf. The model, based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, features transformable lounge, kitchen, and bathroom areas. It measures 7.66 meters in length and includes an electric drop-down bed, sliding kitchen elements, and a dry bathroom. The base price is €98,999, while the displayed unit with options is priced at €139,232.
