Two Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a man bitten by a rattlesnake at a remote campsite near Perkinsville on the evening of July 29. Due to the remote location, an ambulance could not reach the scene, so deputies called for a rescue helicopter. While waiting, the man's condition deteriorated with vomiting, convulsions, and muscle spasms. Deputies kept him calm and alert to slow venom spread. He was airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital, spent a few days there, and was released to recover at home.
