On June 6, 2026, the Main Street of America Route 66 Centennial Caravan will launch, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Route 66. Over 20 days, participants will cover 2,400 miles from the Santa Monica Pier (California) to the Chicago Pier (Illinois), passing through 8 states.
The caravan is organized by the Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership with support from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, as well as GoRoute66.com, The Official Route 66 Centennial Caravan, and Big Texan Steak Ranch and Brewery. The convoy will consist of 15 vehicles, with stops in 20 cities.
Each stop will feature evening events, including a 72-ounce steak-eating competition broadcast live. The caravan aims to raise awareness for preserving historic sites along the route. Participation is open to all.
