Court dismisses measures requested by residents of Villas Caravaning in Cartagena

Economist José María Páez stated that placing a caravan on agricultural land for permanent residence is illegal, even if it has wheels or is not anchored. The law assesses not the type of structure but its use: if the caravan is used as a home (continuous living, connection to utilities), it is considered a violation. Offenders face fines up to €30,000 and forced removal. Registering the caravan as a residence does not legalize the situation.

The Socialist Group warns that more than 100 families living in Villas Caravaning in Cartagena will lose access to drinking water from July 1 due to a debt of €732,166 owed to Veolia (formerly Hidrogea). The homeowners' association cannot meet the demanded payment of €200,000 upfront plus €130,000 monthly, with only €16,846 in available funds. Outstanding member fees total €582,324. Socialists urge the local government to apply the Social Water Fund, noting that Spain's government has extended the ban on cutting off water for vulnerable consumers until December 31.

The Spanish municipality of Husillos (Palencia) hosted a caravan meeting on June 19–21, organized by the town hall and the Cultural Caravaning Association of Galicia. The event brought together about thirty motorhomes and roughly a hundred participants, mostly from Galicia, as well as from Madrid, Valencia, and Castile and León. The program included a communal meal, board games, bingo, theater, a concert, a visit to the Memory Monolith, and a tour of the facsimile of the Orestes Sarcophagus. The gathering aimed to integrate travelers into village life and showcase local cultural and natural resources.

A family from Rota d'Imagna (Bergamo province) moved to Tenerife and lives in a motorhome while working remotely. Edwin (44) and Erika (41) with their five-year-old son Kevin left Italy in November 2023. Erika kept her job at a CAF office by switching to online work, and the family also manages apartment renovations in Italy. They set a weekly budget for expenses and plan to travel to Africa in October, replacing the motorhome with a converted bus.

The new motorhome area in Mosteiro, municipality of Pol (Galicia), was officially inaugurated this weekend. Around 130 motorhomes and 300 visitors from Galicia, Asturias, Ponferrada, and the Canary Islands attended. A commemorative plaque was unveiled, and local officials highlighted the area's role in promoting itinerant tourism and boosting the local economy.

On June 19, Palma police removed an abandoned caravan on Jean B. Laurens street in Son Güells. The trailer was detached from its towing vehicle, violating municipal parking rules. No one was inside, and it was taken to an impound lot.
