In Aomori Prefecture, Japan, bears have been spotted several times on the Mount Bonzusen trail near the nature center in Namioka, Aomori City. Sensor cameras recorded a bear approaching the lens on August 3 and 8. As a result, the campsite is closed from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next day starting August 11, because there is no staff at night to ensure safety.
Other forest trails in the prefecture remain open, but warning signs have been posted. Authorities urge people to check bear sighting information and avoid visiting the forest early in the morning and in the evening. Last year, the campsite was also closed due to bears.
