Barber Xu Song from Fenggang County, Guizhou, set off on August 7 in a motorhome along National Highway 318 toward Tibet, funding the trip by cutting hair en route. In just over a month he covered nearly 3,000 km and reached Nyingchi by September 10. His 5–6 sq m vehicle serves as a mobile barbershop offering cuts, perms and dyeing; prices are adjusted to local spending levels and are generally one-third cheaper than fixed salons. He has earned over 6,000 yuan, covering food, lodging and fuel. The original destination was Everest Base Camp, but due to autumn weather and vehicle performance he rerouted to Lhasa, then plans to return to Guizhou via Yunnan.
