The Vorpommern-Greifswald district closed a motorhome pitch at the entrance to Mönkebude harbour at the end of 2025 due to the absence of a development plan. The ban remains in effect for 2026, resulting in a loss of 55,000 euros for the municipality. On 8 October, local representatives will discuss a resolution to prepare the development plan "Strandpark Mönkebude II", covering the fishing port and extending to the large harbour basin.
