Signs prohibiting overnight parking of motorhomes in Sandsend and North Bay in Scarborough were torn down and thrown over a cliff shortly after installation. North Yorkshire Council introduced an experimental ban due to an unacceptable level of vehicles, but faced overwhelming objections and vandalism, which disrupted data collection at Cayton Bay. A final decision on a permanent ban will be made next month based on data from only two sites.
