Naturno tightens camper van parking rules

The Austrian newspaper Tiroler Tageszeitung has published tips for motorhome owners planning ferry crossings to Elba, Corsica, Sardinia, and other islands. Recommendations include checking vehicle height, booking tickets in advance, and properly distributing weight inside the motorhome.

Traveling with a home on wheels has advantages but requires certain precautions. The article lists five common mistakes that can ruin a holiday.

A motorhome got stuck at the entrance to Piazza Piccinino in central Perugia, while a minibus knocked down two flowerbeds. Local residents and business owners attribute the incidents to the unsuccessful redesign of Piazza Danti, where bollards and flowerbeds were installed to combat chaotic parking. They argue the measures have not solved the problem but worsened it, creating bottlenecks. Traffic police had to intervene to clear the area.

A fire destroyed the direct sales point of the Campi Elisi farm in Castelpietra. Thanks to a caravan donated by Borgo dei Cappuccini, the shop quickly resumed operations. The caravan was insulated and equipped with a refrigerator.

The X Municipal Council of Rome has approved new parking and traffic regulations for the Castel Fusano station area and the Amerigo Vespucci seafront. Parking will be restricted to cars and motorcycles, ending uncontrolled parking by motorhomes and caravans. A new 230-space parking lot, including disabled parking, will be built on the seafront. Authorities stated that social services have assisted people who were living in the parked vehicles.

Manager Massimiliano Nardin notes that the site is always quiet, except in August. 80% of guests are regulars, some returning for nearly 50 years. The campsite offers nature-focused stays with amenities like children's animation and a restaurant.
