Dozens of caravans, campers and tents have been found in protected areas along Bulgaria's northern Black Sea coast. Inspections between the Shabla lighthouse and Tyulenovo, and at Pasha Dere near Varna, recorded dozens of violations; some owners were given until 23 August to leave. Fines for illegal tents on beaches or in protected areas range from 500 to 1,000 leva, while vehicle-related violations carry fines of 1,000 to 3,000 leva. New rules taking effect on 1 October will also hold landowners responsible. No applications for a regulated camping site have been submitted in Dobrich Province so far.
