Capabilities and Limitations
According to tests, the RWD BMW 3 Series (G20/G28/F35) can be used for overnight stays, but with caveats. The rear seats fold in a 40:20:40 split, and the trunk volume is 480 liters. The maximum depth after folding exceeds 1.8 m (one source says about 1.85 m), accommodating a person up to 1.8 m tall. However, another source states that the sleeping space is only suitable for people up to 1.7 m and short trips.
Height Difference and Mattress
There is a step between the folded seats and the trunk floor: about 5 cm per one source, 5–8 cm per another, and up to 10 cm per a third. To level it, inflatable mattresses 5–8 cm thick, foam mattresses, or removal of the rear seats are required. Basic conversion costs about 2000 yuan; another source says 500–2000 yuan.
Other Notes
RWD does not affect interior space; the transmission tunnel can be used for storage. The engine cannot run at idle with AC for long due to carbon monoxide poisoning risk. One source deems the car unsuitable for two people or those over 1.75 m; another allows two adults.
