Val Miñor now has the largest motorhome park in Galicia

A guidebook featuring 15 motorhome routes in northern Spain has been published. The authors, editors of On Road Magazine, have included practical information in the book, such as parking locations and safety advice.

The average booking lead time for motorhome trips among Spaniards is 15 weeks, two weeks less than in 2025. 77% of bookings in 2026 are for European destinations, with an average trip duration of 11 days. Germans and Dutch plan such trips the earliest, almost five months in advance.

On the Balearic and Canary Islands, more people are forced to live in motorhomes and caravans due to high rents and housing shortages. At the Son Hugo parking lot in Palma de Mallorca, around 150 caravans were parked at the end of March, housing workers and families. The housing crisis has begun to negatively impact the economy, as companies cannot fill vacancies due to a lack of affordable housing for employees.

On August 12, 2026, a total solar eclipse will be visible in Spain for the first time in over a century. The path of totality will cross the provinces of Lugo, Asturias, León, Palencia, Burgos, and Soria, as well as parts of Zaragoza, Teruel, and Castellón. Traveling by camper van offers the flexibility to change location on the day of the event based on weather conditions.

Four municipalities in the Baix Penedès region have begun creating a network of equipped parking areas for motorhomes. An investment of 54,000 euros has been allocated to adapt five-space sites with dumping stations for wastewater and water refill points, with a maximum stay of three days. The initiative aims to manage the growing influx of motorhome tourists and prevent their unauthorized parking in undesignated areas.

The motorhome area in Pontevedra reached full capacity at the start of Holy Week. The city has become a popular stop for travelers touring Galicia and Europe, attracting both Spanish and international tourists from the Netherlands and Germany.
