Lake District holiday park wins top industry award

Primrose Valley Holiday Park in Filey has applied to reduce the number of static caravans from 36 to 21, allowing larger units to be installed and maintaining appeal to tourists. The proposal includes increasing parking spaces to two per caravan and replacing six central pitches with a landscaping feature. Caravan size would increase from 12x36 feet to 20x40 feet. The Highway Authority has no objections, as access arrangements remain unchanged and no increase in trips is expected.

Police have appealed for information after three motorhomes were stolen from a business in Chelston Business Park near Wellington on Sunday at around 11pm. All three vehicles were recovered in the surrounding area, including on Castle Road, Dyers Close, and Blackdown Meadow. An investigation is ongoing, and officers are asking for CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the relevant areas overnight.

Dorset Police recovered a stolen caravan in the Piddle Valley area and returned it to its owners. The investigation began after a touring caravan was reported stolen from a compound near Dorchester. Two vehicles linked to caravan thefts across Dorset and Somerset were seized. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

East Suffolk councillor Julia Ewart has raised concerns that two planning applications for temporary accommodation for Sizewell C workers could leave a 'very substantial permanent legacy'. One application from Britannia Jinky Jersey Ltd proposes 340 touring caravan pitches in Pakefield, while another seeks to add 108 lodges at Cakes and Ale holiday park in Leiston. Ewart called for the cumulative impact to be considered, fearing the area could become a 'colossal caravan park'. A Sizewell C spokesman said the project has a 'clear and balanced accommodation strategy' and that Pakefield Village will remain in good condition after construction.

Cumberland Council is cracking down on anti-social behaviour at popular beauty spots. Over the summer, the council engaged with more than 100 individuals, removed numerous inappropriate campers, and cleared 10 campsites in the past two weeks. Two fixed penalty notices have been issued for breaches of the Public Spaces Protection Order, with 25 more due shortly. One incident involved a vehicle driving across a Site of Special Scientific Interest to camp on the lake shore, causing ground damage.

Residents of Irby reported that a 'building site' appeared overnight on a green belt plot on Townshend Avenue on August 27. A fence has been erected, and trucks and caravans have been seen. Local councillors and police are investigating potential unauthorized development. The 0.9-acre plot was listed for £90,000–£100,000, but the listing has been removed. Wirral Council said it lacks powers to evict as the land is privately owned and is monitoring the situation.
